D I S T A N C E

Between social distance, distance learning, and long-distance relationships I’m overwhelmed.
•
As the semester came to an end I took 4 law school finals in 3 days. I missed Devin’s Birthday. And I’ll spend 4 months away from home on active duty.
•
But I’m staying focused on:
✔️Personal/ Spiritual growth
✔️New skills
✔️New projects
•
Reading and spending time alone allows me to reflect and come back home refreshed. And the time we spend apart reinvigorates our relationship.
•
Learning new skills keeps my mind busy. I always need to be learning something. Right now that’s guitar but tomorrow it will probably be Arabic or Japanese.
•
I take on new projects because I need a creative outlet. My projects allow me to express myself and create things. p.s. our blog is coming to you soon!
•
I am grateful for a husband who encourages me to challenge myself. 🤍

Today I knelt with many members of the healthcare

Today I knelt with many members of the healthcare field. Many close geographically and many more around the country. We did this to bring attention to something bigger than ourselves. Something more important than ourselves. This cannot stop here. It cannot stop with social media. It must continue into our workplace as we take on the role of servant to those looking to us for care. We must make a stand that BLACK LIVES MATTER in policing, schooling, education, policy, medicine and everywhere else. We must not be ignorant to the effects institutionalized racism plays in all aspects of America. As a member of the healthcare field it is commonplace to know we play a role in something bigger than ourselves, I hope many have realized that role extends beyond what they previously imagined. Any member of the professional field must lead a call to action to combat disparities disproportionately affecting the Black community in their respective career. Our position allows us to either do good or do great harm. Understand staying silent or moderate does great harm. I won’t stop until every black mother and infant have the same survival rates as their white counterparts. I won’t quit while a worldwide pandemic disproportionately harms the health and finances of the black community. I’ll keep fighting until my mother can have peace while her two sons are driving, jogging, walking, playing in the park, relaxing in our own home and the list goes on. I pray for the families of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and the countless others known and unknown. I pray justice is served. #whitecoatsforblacklives
